Tivaouane-Peulh: Consumed by jealousy, a driver attacks his father's "ñareel" with a knife

A family feud turned tragic in Tivaouane-Peulh. A. MBAYE, 25, a driver by profession, was remanded in custody on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, after being brought before the public prosecutor at the Rufisque High Court, Cheikh Diakhoumpa. He is accused of stabbing R. DÈME, his father's wife, whom he, in his own words, had never been able to accept.

A poorly digested union

It all reportedly began with his father's remarriage. Since the plaintiff, R. DÈME, married him, A. MBAYE has allegedly never accepted this new family dynamic. This situation gradually escalated into numerous provocations, then threats made by the accused against his aunt, whom he considers an intruder in his father's home.

Consumed by this resentment, A. MBAYE reportedly began to sink into alcoholism, according to the same statements from the victim.

It is in this climate of tension that the most serious episode occurs. On the morning of Friday, August 21, 2026, the complainant R. DÈME claims to have been surprised from behind by the accused A. MBAYE, who allegedly injured her with a knife in the back, before hastily leaving the family home.

Hurt and shocked, the victim decided to file a complaint. She went to a health center where she was issued a medical certificate confirming a five (5) day temporary incapacity for work (ITT). This document was attached to her letter of complaint, which she submitted to the gendarmes of the local brigade in Tivaouane-Peulh.

After several days without news of the suspect, the situation took a new turn on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. On that day, A. Mbaye was reported at the family home, where he had once again disturbed the peace. Alerted, the gendarmes from the Tivaouane Peulh Local Brigade went to the scene and arrested him.

The suspect was taken into custody the same day, at 3 p.m., for intentional assault and battery resulting in a temporary incapacity for work of five (05) days to the detriment of RD, as well as for threats to an ascendant.

When questioned by investigators, AM readily admitted to the charges against him. He explained that he acted in the heat of the moment. However, when further questioned, he attempted to downplay the seriousness of his actions, claiming to investigators that he had only thrown a stone in his aunt's direction.

According to Seneweb sources, AM was brought before the public prosecutor, Cheikh Diakhoumpa, head of the Rufisque prosecutor's office, on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. Following his hearing, the magistrate ordered him detained.
