Drug trafficking: A pregnant woman arrested with 34 ecstasy pills

The National Gendarmerie's Anti-Drug Unit apprehended a rather unusual drug trafficker. She is Ms. A. Guéye, who is pregnant. She was arrested on the night of August 11-12, 2026, near the Brioche Dorée bakery in Zac-Mbao. She was found in possession of 34 ecstasy tablets.

The arrest follows an investigation launched after a tip-off about an international ecstasy trafficking network operating between The Gambia and Senegal. According to our information, investigators were monitoring the woman, who had left The Gambia with a quantity of drugs intended for distribution in Senegal. During the night, she was spotted in Zac-Mbao. A surveillance operation was set up around the Brioche Dorée bakery. Around 1:00 a.m., investigators moved in as she was, according to them, preparing to carry out a transaction.

The search led to the discovery of 34 pink pills bearing a TikTok logo. A preliminary test revealed them to be positive for ecstasy. An iPhone 13 Pro was also seized and placed under seal.

During her hearing, A. Gueye admitted to the facts. She acknowledged having bought the 34 tablets in Gambia from an individual nicknamed "Bro". The amount of the transaction was 68,000 FCFA, or 2,000 FCFA per tablet.

She explained that she acted on an order placed by a woman named Myram, whom she said she had recently met through a man named Babacar. The tablets were then to be resold for 3,000 francs each.

Investigators also examined his phone. They discovered WhatsApp exchanges with several people requesting the delivery of narcotics. Photographs and videos showing various types of drugs were also reportedly found on the device.

On this point, the accused minimizes her role. She claims that the messages were sent to her by acquaintances who asked her to find them drugs on the Gambian market.

The official report states that A. Gueye is pregnant. She was examined by a specialist during her detention. She also apologized and asked for leniency from the justice system.

At the conclusion of their investigation, the gendarmes brought the woman before the prosecutor at the Pikine-Guédiawaye High Court. She was remanded in custody on August 14th for criminal conspiracy and for offering and supplying drugs.
