Yeumbeul : La BRS de Dakar saisit 36,5 kg de haschich, 3 suspects arrêtés
On the evening of Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the Dakar Regional Narcotics Brigade (BRS) dismantled a drug trafficking network of at least three people. A significant seizure of 36.5 kilograms of hashish, estimated at over 300 million CFA francs, was made in Yeumbeul.
The operation began following a crucial tip received by investigators from the BRS, a unit within the Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS). The information pointed to an individual known by the pseudonym "Afia," who was actively seeking to distribute a large quantity of hashish, according to Seneweb sources.
To intercept the suspect, the police devised a scheme by placing a fictitious order for a block of illicit product, priced at 500,000 CFA francs. The man, known as "Afia," immediately indicated that a sample was in the possession of his accomplice, A. NGOM. When contacted later, NGOM confirmed the product's availability and arranged to meet at his home in the Yeumbeul Asecna neighborhood to complete the transaction.
Around 7:30 p.m., a team of officers from the Dakar BRS (Brigade de Recherches Spéciales - Special Research Brigade) was deployed to the designated location. In the presence of "Afia," who had come to witness the delivery at A. NGOM's residence, the police intervened and simultaneously arrested the two men in possession of the ordered sample. Identification revealed that "Afia" was in fact Mr. DIENG, a 52-year-old fan repairman residing in Yeumbeul Asecna. His accomplice, A. NGOM, is a 47-year-old security guard living in the same area.
When briefly questioned about the origin of the drugs seized during the initial operation, Mr. Dieng denied any ownership of the product. He immediately pointed the finger at a third party, K. Fall, stating that the latter had entrusted him with the keys to his room.
Guided by these statements, the investigators immediately went to the residence in question to conduct a search in the presence of Mr. Dieng. The search of the premises proved fruitful: the officers discovered a bag containing thirty-six (36) carefully packaged blocks of hashish, weighing a total of 36 kilograms.
A series of arrests and revelations about the origin of the drugs
Continuing their investigation that same evening, police apprehended the third suspect, K. FALL, at 8:30 p.m. The 34-year-old man, who identified himself as a "Thiak-Thiak" delivery driver and resided in the Medina neighborhood, confessed to the crime during questioning. He stated that the drugs had been given to him by his younger sister, MF FALL, nicknamed "Mamy," a woman previously arrested by the same department.
All the drugs, representing a cumulative mass of 36.5 kilograms of hashish with a market value estimated at over 300 million CFA francs, were placed under seal, as were the mobile phones of those involved.
After receiving official notification of their rights, including the right to be assisted by counsel of their choice, Mr. Dieng, Mr. Ngom, and Mr. Fall were taken into custody. They are being prosecuted for conspiracy, possession and trafficking of hashish as part of an organized group, and complicity in drug trafficking. The public prosecutor was informed of the operation and the charges against the suspects.
