Ziguinchor : 12 kg de chanvre indien saisis, un présumé trafiquant tombe dans les filets de la police
The officers of the Ziguinchor Central Police Station's Criminal Investigation Brigade carried out a major drug bust. On Monday, July 27, 2026, they arrested an individual in possession of twelve kilograms of cannabis.
This operation is the result of the exploitation of operational intelligence indicating the existence of an Indian hemp trafficking network run by a young man identified as B.Diawara, residing in Boumbouda.
According to police reports, a surveillance operation was set up, allowing investigators to follow the suspect as he prepared to receive a shipment of drugs from the village of Boumbouda. The operation led to his arrest and the seizure of a suitcase containing 12 kilograms of cannabis.
When questioned by investigators, the suspect attempted to exonerate himself by claiming the drugs belonged to an individual known by the nickname "Badj." However, he provided no information to identify or locate this alleged owner of the merchandise.
The individual arrested was taken into custody for offering and selling cannabis and is now the subject of a thorough investigation. The public prosecutor's office has been informed of the case, and the investigation continues in order to identify any accomplices and dismantle the entire trafficking network.
