Les chiffres clés, la Phase 1+, les ventes…: Kosmos Energy fait le point sur le gaz sénégalo-mauritanien
With the first half of the year now complete, it's time for a review in the oil and gas sector. After Woodside last week, it's Kosmos Energy's turn to unveil its second-quarter 2026 results.
Globally, the company reported revenue of $607.3 million , compared to $392.6 million a year earlier, representing a 55% increase. Its net profit reached $184.8 million , following a loss of $87.7 million recorded in the second quarter of 2025.
GTA Production Figures
On the Grand Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) gas project, located on the maritime border between Senegal and Mauritania, Kosmos indicates that average production reached 15,700 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) during the quarter, equivalent to approximately 2.65 million tonnes per year (Mtpa) of crude liquefied natural gas.
"This figure is slightly lower than that of the first quarter, mainly due to higher seasonal temperatures, as indicated in the previous quarter," the company explains.
Kosmos specifies that nine liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes were shipped during the second quarter, at the high end of the forecast range. The total number of gross LNG cargoes in the first half of the year thus reached 18.5 .
The company is also maintaining its annual forecast of between 32 and 36 gross LNG cargoes . It adds that a cargo of condensate has also been loaded by Kosmos and the national oil companies.
After ramping up production, Kosmos now intends to focus its efforts on reducing Phase 1 operating costs. The company indicates that its net operating costs per barrel are "on track to decrease by more than 50% year-on-year", with potential for further reductions in 2027 and beyond.
This development is particularly important because it means that the deposit could generate more substantial margins over the years if this trajectory of decreasing costs is confirmed.
Like the Sangomar oil field, Grand Tortue Ahmeyim is now preparing for a new stage of its development. With Phase 1 now fully operational and performing well, "the partnership is now focused on future production growth through Phase 1+", Kosmos announced.
This new phase will rely on existing infrastructure to initially supply the domestic markets of Senegal and Mauritania.
