Road closures on the Bembou-Sabodala road: MP Amdiatta Diaby denounces a man's death and demands immediate repairs

After several days of severe disruption caused by rising waters, traffic has finally resumed on the Bembou - Sabodala axis, thanks to the drop in the level of the Khossanto stream.

While road traffic has resumed, the situation continues to cause serious concern among residents and local officials. Amdiatta Diaby, the member of parliament for the Saraya department, is sounding the alarm and calling on authorities to expedite the announced road improvement projects to prevent further tragedies during the remainder of the rainy season.

According to the parliamentarian, the closure of this strategic route last Friday had dramatic consequences. "All traffic was blocked and, unfortunately, a man lost his life at the stream because he could not be evacuated in time," he lamented, describing the situation as "truly deplorable."

The MP believes it is unacceptable that the population continues to suffer such isolation in an area with significant mining activity. "It's incomprehensible that there is so much wealth in our subsoil while our roads remain impassable. The very least that should be done is to complete the Bembou-Sabodala section of road to meet the legitimate expectations of the people," insists Amdiatta Diaby.

The elected official recalled that on July 3rd, a partner mining company had officially launched a project to build access structures at Khossanto, a ceremony he attended. But nearly a month after this announcement, the work has still not begun.

After speaking with company officials, the MP indicated that administrative procedures would further delay the start of construction.

Faced with the urgency of the situation, Amdiatta Diaby is calling for an acceleration of the process so that the work can finally begin. "We are demanding the immediate start of this work, because the rainy season doesn't wait. If the road is already cut off by July 31st, what will happen in August or September? A solution must be found as quickly as possible to prepare for any eventuality," he warns.

The MP for Saraya therefore calls on the competent authorities, technical services and mining partners to act without delay in order to definitively secure this vital road, the interruption of which affects the mobility of populations, medical evacuations and economic activities of the entire Khossanto area.
