In an official statement released this Thursday, June 11, 2026, in Dakar, the management of AGEROUTE Senegal issued key clarifications regarding the Mékhé-Pékesse-Thilmakha road construction project. The implementing agency of the Ministry of Infrastructure formally denies reports of a freeze on activities on this strategic route, reaffirming its commitment to completing the project in accordance with contractual obligations.

The agency clarifies that its action comes "following the article published on the SENEWEB website on Thursday, June 11, 2026." In this statement, "AGEROUTE Senegal, the implementing agency of the Ministry of Infrastructure, wishes to inform the public, its partners, and all stakeholders in the road infrastructure sector that, contrary to the information circulating, no decision to halt work has been made on the Mékhé - Pékesse - Thilmakha road construction project." The agency also reiterates that "the work is being carried out by the company SOTRACOM."

The sector authorities used this platform to reiterate the State's overall roadmap for opening up isolated areas and developing the territory. The press release states that "the Ministry of Infrastructure and AGEROUTE Senegal reaffirm their commitment to ensuring the completion of road infrastructure projects in compliance with quality standards, contractual deadlines, and safety requirements."

According to the general management, this rigorous approach to monitoring construction sites is part of a broader public service mission, geared "to the benefit of users and the economic and social development of the country".
