Market modernization: PROMOGEM equips Tivaouane Peulh-Niagues with a new generation commercial complex

A major step for the economic development of the Rufisque department. On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the National Coordinator of PROMOGEM, Ms. Rougui Aladji Sow, presided over the technical handover of the Tawfekh Shopping Center in Tivaouane Peulh-Niagues. Spanning nearly 10,000 m² and featuring 275 modern retail spaces, this next-generation infrastructure aims to modernize local commerce and provide a secure environment for merchants and customers.

On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the National Coordinator of the Market Modernization and Management Project (PROMOGEM), Ms. Rougui Aladji Sow, conducted the technical handover of the brand new Tawfekh Shopping Center, located in the municipality of Tivaouane Peulh-Niagues. The ceremony took place in the presence of Mr. Pape Yoro Sow, Deputy Sub-Prefect of Sangalkam and representative of the Prefect of the Rufisque Department, as well as Mr. Momar Sokhna Diop, Mayor of the municipality.

The guided tour of the premises allowed the administrative and local authorities to confirm the effective completion of the works and their perfect compliance with the urban planning and safety standards in force.

Built on a total area of 9,550 m² spread over two levels, this modern commercial complex houses 275 shops and functional retail spaces. The project was designed to boost the local economy and fundamentally transform the daily lives of economic stakeholders. In addition to cafeterias, the center includes an administrative building, a microfinance office to facilitate access to credit, a restaurant, a gym, a cold storage facility for perishable goods, and four compliant restroom facilities.

During her address, the National Coordinator particularly emphasized the importance of rigorous management, facility security, and strict adherence to operating regulations. Ms. Rougui Aladji Sow reaffirmed PROMOGEM's firm commitment to replicating this model throughout the country, within the framework of the Existing Market Restructuring Project and the New Market Construction Project.
