Université Sine-Saloum : les nouveaux bâtiments pédagogiques du campus de Kaffrine officiellement réceptionnés
The Kaffrine campus of the Sine-Saloum El Hadji Ibrahima Niass University (USSEIN) has reached a new stage in its development. The Ministers of Infrastructure and Land and Air Transport, Dethie Fall, and of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Boubacar Camara, officially received the new teaching buildings, designed to provide a better learning environment for students starting next academic year.
For Dethie Fall, this ceremony is above all the culmination of a commitment made with the companies in charge of the work.
“On several occasions, we received the company in charge of the construction of these infrastructures. We had demanded that they deliver the works on time, especially before the next academic year. Today, we note with satisfaction that this commitment has been respected, both here in Kaffrine and elsewhere,” he rejoiced.
The minister indicated that the infrastructure is now ready to welcome students. At the two Training and Research Units (UFRs), the work has resulted in the construction and equipping of four 225-seat lecture halls, seven tutorial rooms, eight practical work rooms, eight laboratories, administrative buildings for each UFR, and a library. Electrical installations and air conditioning systems have also been completed to ensure optimal study conditions.
“We are pleased to have come with the Minister of Higher Education to carry out this handover. The infrastructure we are delivering today is now ready to be made fully operational in order to welcome students,” added Dethie Fall, announcing that other handovers of university infrastructure will take place in several regions of the country after the Magal.
For his part, the Minister of Higher Education, Boubacar Camara, recalled the numerous difficulties encountered upon his arrival at the head of the department.
"We inherited an extremely difficult situation, marked by construction sites at a standstill due to funding issues, company failures, or organizational problems. In some cases, work was even blocked due to a lack of electrical installations or access to water," he explained.
According to him, these obstacles are now a thing of the past. "All these obstacles have been removed, and we are now receiving fully functional educational infrastructure, particularly here in Kaffrine. We will continue this momentum on other campuses to offer students excellent learning conditions."
The minister also stressed the involvement of the head of state in monitoring university projects.
“We are very proud of the work accomplished. We are acting this way because we have received clear instructions. The President of the Republic regularly follows the progress of the work in detail, and the results we see today are the fruit of this commitment,” he said.
Finally, addressing the students, Boubacar Camara urged them to preserve this heritage. "We now expect the students to take care of these facilities, maintain the buildings, ensure the proper functioning of the equipment, and contribute to their safety and optimal management."
With these new teaching buildings, the Kaffrine campus significantly strengthens its capacity to accommodate students and prepares to welcome them in a modern, better equipped and more conducive environment for higher education.
