A suspected serial killer was arrested disguised as a woman and accompanied by a 2-year-old child who was not his. He was unmasked thanks to his tattoo.

Jorlan Lopes da Silva's scheme, at the age of 33, finally failed. After a 48-hour manhunt, law enforcement arrested the suspected serial killer on Sunday, September 13, in Mulungu, Paraiba state, Brazil. To try and evade police during a joint operation by the civil, military, and federal highway patrol, the suspect had disguised himself as a woman.

At the time of his arrest, he was wearing a dress, a wig, sunglasses, sandals, and nail polish, and was accompanied by a two-year-old child who was not his, reports O Globo. The deception was exposed when his dress shifted, revealing a tattoo that led to his identification. The child was taken into medical care and sustained no physical injuries, according to local media.

The man is suspected of being linked to a violent criminal organization. He was already under investigation for several murders in the Vale do Mamanguape region. Authorities have linked him to at least 16 murders committed in just three months, since the end of May.

Disturbing confessions: 80 murders, including that of his father

During his interrogation, the man in his thirties reportedly made chilling confessions. He claimed to have committed approximately 80 murders over a period of twenty years. He allegedly stated that he began his macabre career by committing his first crime at the age of 13: the murder of his own father.

The information he provided to authorities has already allowed police to locate at least one site where a body was buried. The investigation is ongoing to verify his statements and locate the remains of other potential victims. The investigation will also determine the exact charges that will be brought against him.
