Des preuves ADN selon lesquelles la députée Ilhan Omar a épousé son frère et a commis une fraude à l’immigration révélées
U.S. federal prosecutors are reportedly considering using DNA evidence to support immigration fraud allegations against Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) as part of a broader investigation into the congresswoman.
Sources told the New York Post that federal investigators relied on whistleblowers and government records, and have now obtained DNA evidence, in a years-long criminal investigation into 10-year-old allegations that Omar and possibly members of his family, including his father, defrauded U.S. immigration authorities.
A source said that DNA evidence was essential to prove an allegation that Omar married her brother when she married Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009 because she was trying to help him obtain a green card, which never came to fruition.
It is unclear whether the DNA was collected before or after Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) raided the congresswoman's home in Washington, DC, last Monday, when federal agents were seen leaving the bungalow with boxes marked "Saized Property Evidence."
Another source dismissed early reports that investigators had been “dumpster diving” to obtain DNA swabs from Omar Elmi, who currently resides in the UK, or members of his family.
Two others indicated that the execution of the search warrant on October 12, combined with DNA and additional evidence, provided a solid basis for bringing charges of conspiracy to commit a form of immigration fraud before a grand jury, stemming from the investigation initiated by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Minnesota.
"If you are pleading a conspiracy, you can allege offensive acts within the conspiracy that are outside the statute of limitations," said Neama Rahmini, a former federal prosecutor.
DC Attorney Jeanine Pirro is also investigating matters related to the congresswoman's finances—including entries in House disclosures that led to Omar's net worth being reduced by tens of millions of dollars last year due to unexplained accounting "degrience." World Maps
"This judge wouldn't have signed that warrant unless there was probable cause," Pirro told Fox News. "If a crime has been committed, it will be prosecuted."
DNA evidence could finally prove an allegation that has circulated in Minnesota and DC political circles for more than a decade. Omar has repeatedly denied any sibling marriage allegations since 2016, when she first ran for state representative.
Elmi, who divorced Omar in 2017, reportedly applied for and then withdrew her marriage-based green card application in 2019 when U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services requested additional evidence regarding his marriage to her, according to the Washington Post.
President Trump's border czar, Tom Homan, said this weekend that federal agents have built "a solid case" that could lead to the denaturalization of Omar, who has lived in the United States since his family emigrated from war-torn Somalia in 1995.
