France: Kylian Mbappé targeted in a disturbing kidnapping plot

Kylian Mbappé's name has surfaced in a particularly worrying case revealed by "Le Parisien". The French national team captain was allegedly targeted by a network suspected of planning several kidnappings and attacks against wealthy individuals.

At the heart of the investigation is an 18-year-old named Clément, presented by investigators as a possible mastermind. Already in custody in connection with another case, he was formally charged on August 21, 2026, in Nanterre with organized robbery.

Despite his incarceration, the suspect allegedly continued to communicate with members of the network and to transmit instructions, notably via Snapchat.

Analysis of two phones found in prison reportedly allowed investigators to uncover a list of 26 addresses associated with individuals possessing significant financial resources. Potential targets included business owners, entrepreneurs, artists, and several figures from the world of football.

Kylian Mbappé was among those targeted. The French player was reportedly placed on this list alongside, notably, a rapper and several business leaders. This information adds a particularly worrying dimension to the investigation.

The investigation began after several incidents targeting a watchmaker. Individuals reportedly went to his home posing as delivery drivers. A few days later, his shop was allegedly robbed. These operations attracted the attention of investigators from the anti-organized crime unit, who gradually traced the trail back to this suspected network.

The evidence gathered during the investigation reportedly led to the identification of other potential targets. According to a judicial source quoted by "Le Parisien," the young suspect had expressed an intention to attack a rapper as well as Kylian Mbappé.

At this stage, the investigation is continuing to determine precisely the role of each suspect and, above all, to assess the level of preparation involved in these schemes. The case reveals a network that allegedly targeted several prominent figures because of their substantial wealth.
