Shooting during the filming of a music video: one dead and one seriously injured

The tragedy occurred on Monday evening near the Cayolle housing estate in southern Marseille.

A 33-year-old man was killed and another, aged 32, was injured Monday evening in a shooting during the filming of a music video near the La Cayolle housing estate in southern Marseille, sources close to the investigation confirmed, corroborating information from La Provence.

An investigation has been opened for homicide and attempted homicide committed by an organized group, and for conspiracy to commit a crime as part of an organized group. The investigation has been entrusted to the criminal investigation unit, the Marseille prosecutor's office stated. The circumstances of the shooting remain to be clarified, it added.

The Marseille fire brigade (BMPM) discovered around 9:30 p.m. the body of a man in cardiorespiratory arrest on the Sormiou road in the 9th arrondissement of Marseille and a second man "bearing several bullet impacts" not far away, on Colgate Avenue.

According to a source close to the investigation, it appears to have been "a music video shoot that went wrong."

In this area nestled against the Calanques hills, several dozen hooded participants reportedly opened fire on a rock wall with weapons, some of which were not fake, ricocheting and wounding the two victims, the source continued.

“Tonight, in La Cayolle, in the southern districts of Marseille, a 33-year-old man was killed. Another is seriously injured. Once again, our city has been struck by violence,” reacted Amine Kessaci, deputy mayor and a leading figure in the fight against drug trafficking in Marseille, on X. “From the north to the south of Marseille, we must relentlessly pursue our commitment so that every resident can live in peace and security,” he added.

The Cayolle estate has long been a hub for drug trafficking in Marseille, and remains considered a sensitive area despite the decrease in the number of drug dealing spots.
