The autopsy of 56-year-old Katty Oosterlinck leaves no room for doubt: this Belgian national, brutally murdered in her Fuerteventura home, endured extreme suffering until her very last breath. Her own son, 22-year-old Aaron H., first strangled her with a professional wrestling hold before going even further. Here are the revelations from the autopsy report.

The findings of the preliminary report, which the local newspaper Canarias7 was able to consult, are chilling. On May 3, Aaron H. attacked his mother in their shared home in the municipality of La Oliva, on the Canary Island of Fuerteventura. According to sources close to the investigation, he used a “mataleón,” a rear-naked choke technique from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu designed to instantly render an opponent unconscious.

As Katty lay lifeless on the ground, he struck her a fatal blow. The Puerto del Rosario court ruled that this was not a dispute that escalated, but rather a premeditated murder, aggravated by "ensañamiento"—the deliberate infliction of pain intended to increase the victim's suffering.

A composure that defies comprehension

The young man's behavior after the events defies belief. While his mother's body was still in the room, Aaron logged into his bank account. He transferred nearly €3,000 to his own account. Armed with this "blood money," he went out that same evening to shop: he bought a range of cleaning products and an electric circular saw.

In a room located between the living room and one of the bedrooms, he cut his mother's body into four pieces. He then piled the remains into burlap sacks, the kind usually used on construction sites for rubble. He simply threw the bags into garbage containers, before the municipal collection service took them to the Zurita landfill.

For three days, Guardia Civil investigators sifted through tons of garbage at the island's central landfill to find the remains of the 50-year-old woman. It wasn't until Friday that Katty's body was discovered, in an advanced state of decomposition. Shortly afterward, Aaron H. confessed to the investigating judge, showing no remorse or emotion whatsoever. He is now being prosecuted for murder and fraud.

The abyss of drug addiction

The motive behind this horror lies in the son's devastating drug addiction. Aaron H. was training to be a pharmacy assistant in Puerto del Rosario, but he primarily used his internship to steal medication for personal use. He was a bottomless pit into which all the family's money flowed.

Katty had tried everything to pull her son out of his downward spiral. She had quit her job at a hotel and taken a career break so she could watch over him 24/7. She dragged him to the gym in a desperate attempt to get him back on the right track. All in vain: Aaron wouldn't listen, stealing her jewelry and her last savings.

The situation in their Corralejo home had become unbearable for months. The tension was so high that Katty, at her wit's end, was looking for one last way out. Exhausted by her son's constant threats and aggression, she had begged him to leave.

Despite her own precarious financial situation, she was even willing to pay him rent for a separate apartment, on the sole condition that he leave her. She longed for peace, security, and an end to the terror in her home. This final attempt to put distance between them ultimately cost her her life.
