L'Algérie rompt ses relations diplomatiques avec les Emirats arabes unis
Algeria announced on Thursday the severing of its diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates, after years of tensions during which Algiers regularly accused Abu Dhabi of interference.
Algeria took this decision "after exhausting all means likely to preserve bilateral relations," the public television reported.
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune regularly accuses the Emirates of carrying out destabilizing actions in several countries in the region.
"Wherever they set foot, blood flows," he recently stated in a televised interview, describing the Emirates as a "tiny state" with a "very negative impact."
"All Algeria wants is for this state to leave, so that blood is not shed on our soil," he added.
He had specified that a diplomatic break would have occurred long ago without Algiers' willingness not to aggravate divisions between Arab countries.
