A 15-year-old Ghanaian boy, identified as Javits Frimpong, was shot and killed on his way to school in the Bronx, New York. He died at the hospital from his injuries after being shot in the abdomen near the intersection of Crotona Park. The New York Police Department (NYPD) is searching for three teenagers in connection with the murder.
Described by his family as a quiet teenager, Javits Frimpong had only been living in the United States for a year. According to his family, he had left Ghana in the hope of a better life.
His father, Thomas Frimpong, claims to know who committed the crime. The taxi driver believes the murder is linked to the bullying his son endured at school. According to him, two students had been suspended three days earlier for targeting Javits. He draws a direct link between these disciplinary actions and the tragedy. This version of events has not been confirmed by investigators.
The father is now trying to understand how a school argument could have ended in a gunshot.
The motives for the shooting have not been officially established. Police are continuing their search for the three teenagers. They were captured on surveillance video shooting Javits Frimpong at close range.
