Présidentielle 2027 : un ancien joueur de l’équipe de France de football se rapproche de David Lisnard
At an event for his New Energy party, presidential candidate David Lisnard invited a former player from the French national football team. For several weeks, the mayor of Cannes has been making numerous trips as part of his campaign.
Support from all walks of life. While several presidential candidates have decided to withdraw from the political scene during the summer period, David Lisnard, like Gabriel Attal, has chosen to occupy the space.
On August 29th, the mayor of Cannes (Alpes-Maritimes) and president of the Association of Mayors of France (AMF) will also host the summer campus of his party, Nouvelle-Energie. This event will bring together political figures, essayists, entrepreneurs, and even… former elite athletes.
Indeed, former French national football player, currently coach of Georgia, Willy Sagnol, responded favorably to the invitation from the man who left Les Républicains last March.
Willy Sagnol, with 58 caps for the French national team, is not the only figure from the world of sports and culture to align himself with David Lisnard. Last May, in an interview with our colleagues at Paris Match, Mario, a finalist in the first season of Star Academy, announced his support for the mayor of Cannes. "I was struck by his clarity, his determination, and his pragmatic vision of the challenges we face (...) He doesn't just talk the talk; he proposes concrete, courageous, and innovative solutions," he declared.
A Tour de France
The liberal presidential candidate toured France this summer. As president of the AMF (Association of French Mayors), he notably worked to provide assistance to municipalities affected by the fires in the Var, Landes, and Gironde departments.
Denouncing the Parisian "microcosm", David Lisnard is trying to highlight "the real France", which he hopes to take power in 2027. Sometimes suffering from a lack of notoriety, the 57-year-old is relying on a grassroots campaign, numerous public meetings and rallies, and the "relays" in the territories of Nouvelle Energie, which now has 15,000 members.
In recent weeks, David Lisnard has also outlined the main points of his presidential program. In an interview with the Journal du Dimanche on August 8, the self-described "candidate of reality" declared that the "welfare state" is now "dead." Pointing the finger at the existing social system and the management of public spending, he notably placed the core functions of the state and local authorities at the heart of his platform.
