Séoul accuse la Corée du Nord d’avoir lancé au moins un missile balistique
Pyongyang launched at least one ballistic missile on Saturday, the South Korean military announced.
The escalation continues. North Korea launched at least one ballistic missile on Saturday, the South Korean military announced. "Our armed forces detected a ballistic missile fired from the Wonsan region of North Korea, heading towards the East Sea," the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Seoul said, using the Korean name for the Sea of Japan.
This latest missile launch comes amid renewed tensions between North and South Korea, with the latter accusing its neighbor of planting mines in its section of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) separating them. The explosion of two such devices injured three South Korean soldiers on September 21. Seoul demanded an apology from Pyongyang for the incident, which it described as a violation of the 1953 armistice that ended the Korean War. North Korea denied any responsibility for the incident and dismissed Seoul's demand for an apology as "pathetic."
North Korea is subject to heavy UN sanctions for its nuclear weapons and missile programs, which it considers a form of insurance against any attempt at invasion or regime change by the United States. Pyongyang, which signed a mutual defense agreement with Moscow in 2024, has been accused by Kyiv of supplying ballistic missiles to Russia to attack Ukraine.
