Un enseignant abattu dans une école au Mexique
Mexican police are searching for the perpetrator of the shooting death of a teacher in the state of Oaxaca, just days after another homicide in a school in the country.
A teacher was shot dead on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at a school in the state of Oaxaca, in southern Mexico, the local prosecutor's office announced.
"The victim was shot" with a firearm, he said in a statement.
The teacher was taken to a nearby hospital before succumbing to his injuries.
The prosecutor's office is seeking to identify the perpetrators of this attack, which caused panic at a school in the small town of San Blas Atempa.
According to local press, armed men stormed the establishment before fleeing.
Rare attack
This attack in a school in Mexico comes just days after another, perpetrated by two former students in a school in the north of the country.
In early October, two 18-year-old brothers killed an assistant principal and injured three other people, including with a knife.
In Mexico, a country plagued by organized crime violence, attacks on schools are rare, much more so than in the neighboring United States.
