13 ans d'illégalité au volant et délit de fuite sur le péage : Le chauffard de Mbour risque gros !
A mechanic, prosecuted for driving without a valid license and hit-and-run following an accident on the toll highway, faces a sentence of one year in prison.
In the dock of the Mbour High Court, meeting in a summary proceedings hearing, the defendant admitted to having driven for thirteen consecutive years with a driving licence that had expired in 2012. Following the collision, the driver immediately left the scene without notifying the security services.
When questioned by the judge about his reasons for fleeing, the man attempted to justify himself by claiming he had gone to get his driver's license. The prosecutor then asked him how many days had passed before he surrendered. "Three days," the defendant admitted.
Considering that the seriousness of the offences and the evasive attitude of the accused cannot be minimized, the public prosecutor has requested a sentence of one year imprisonment against him.
Defense attorney Mouhamed Fadel Fall pleaded with the court for leniency for his client. The verdict is scheduled for September 8th.
