Affaire des 32 milliards F CFA de faux billets : Le procès de Bougazelli renvoyé au 10 décembre
Seydina Fall, also known as "Bougazelli," will have to wait a little longer. The former APR deputy was scheduled to appear in court this Thursday before the Dakar criminal court in the case of the 32 billion CFA francs in counterfeit banknotes that led to his arrest in 2019.
Bougazelli did appear in court, alongside his co-defendants. However, the lawyer for one of them, Khalifa Ababacar Dia, requested a postponement. After initially rejecting the request, the judge ultimately adjourned the case until December 10 for closing arguments.
Seydina Fall is being prosecuted, along with five other people, for criminal association, counterfeiting legal tender banknotes, money laundering and corruption.
The case dates back to November 2019. After several days of surveillance, the gendarmes from the Colobane research section arrested Bougazelli while he was in possession of counterfeit banknotes. The amount of the counterfeit currency was estimated at 32 billion CFA francs.
At the time of his arrest, the former parliamentarian had also attempted, according to the investigation, to bribe the gendarmes to avoid being arrested. He allegedly offered them 10 million CFA francs in exchange for his freedom.
