Affaire des 37 milliards F CFA de l'ASER : ce que Thierno Alassane Sall a dit aux enquêteurs
Summoned this Monday to the Research Section (SR) of the Colobane gendarmerie, MP Thierno Alassane Sall (TAS) emerged after more than six hours of questioning, adopting an aggressive tone and carrying bank documents provided by the Spanish justice system. The leader of the Republic of Values (RV), as reported by L'Observateur, claims to have handed over "solid" evidence regarding the financial circuitry of the 37 billion CFA franc contract intended for rural electrification.
“Practically nothing has happened in Senegal”
Speaking to the press, the parliamentarian reiterated his serious accusations regarding the management of funds from the contract between ASER and the Spanish firm AEE Power EPC. According to him, of the 37 billion disbursed, only about 7 billion were used to pay bonuses, the rest of the funds having "vanished."
“The money has been scattered to the four winds across the globe. For two years, the Spanish had warned us that there were suspicions of embezzlement involving our funds. This is becoming increasingly clear,” Thierno Alassane Sall insisted. He also mentioned AEE Power EPC’s refusal to hand over its bank statements to the Spanish justice system, seeing it as an “admission” of guilt.
A warning to his detractors and accusations at the highest levels of government.
The MP took the opportunity to issue a warning to those he accuses of smear campaigns on social media: "If I were those spreading gossip and rumors [...], I would be worried, because the investigation will continue to the end, here in Senegal, but also in Spain," he warned.
TAS also raises the issue of possible political protection in this case: "There are people entrenched in the highest echelons of the State who know what happened and who refused to allow an investigation, who turned a blind eye and a deaf ear [...] and undertook a cover-up. This is not complicity by ordinary officials, but complicity at the highest level of the State."
The case is now in the hands of the Colobane gendarmerie investigators who, according to the MP, have enough documented evidence thanks to cooperation between Dakar and Madrid to quickly conclude the investigations.
