Après leur échec au concours : Deux anciens militaires accusent la gendarmerie de corruption et finissent en prison
On June 3, the Dakar court of flagrant offenses sentenced Sidy Diakhaté and Amy Bousso to six months imprisonment, including two months of mandatory imprisonment, for spreading false news and disseminating data likely to discredit public institutions by means of electronic communication.
In this story, a complaint was filed by the national gendarmerie following the publication of the results of the entrance exam to the Gendarmerie Non-Commissioned Officers School (ESOGN), 2026 session. Unhappy with their failure, the two defendants, former soldiers released at the end of their legal service period, had disseminated videos, montages and posters on Tik Tok denouncing alleged corruption and irregularities in the recruitment.
Among the posts were these messages: " National demonstration against corruption in the recruitment of the Senegalese gendarmerie" and "Stop the shady dealings in the gendarmerie entrance exam."
The investigation conducted by the Colobane research unit established that there was no evidence to support these accusations. The investigation concluded that the content, widely shared on social media, damaged the credibility of the national gendarmerie, discredited public institutions, affected the morale of the defense and security forces, and disturbed public order.
When questioned at the Regional Police Headquarters (SR), Sidy Diakhaté and Amy Bousso admitted to posting the images and videos. They explained that they had obtained the images and videos from online discussion groups before sharing them on their TikTok accounts. They stated that they acted out of disappointment after failing the competitive exam. Both apologized to the National Gendarmerie and pleaded for leniency. In court, the two former soldiers reiterated their confessions.
Considering the facts to be serious, the lawyer for the National Gendarmerie, Moustapha Dieng, requested a symbolic fine of one franc. The public prosecutor , for his part, asked for a six-month prison sentence. The defense, represented by Idrissa Cissé, pleaded for leniency from the court.
The videos were shown in court. At the conclusion of the proceedings, the court found Sidy Diakhaté and Amy Bousso guilty of the charges against them. The judge also accepted the civil suit filed by the National Gendarmerie and awarded them one symbolic franc in damages.
