Placed under arrest warrant by prosecutor Amary Faye, head of the Diourbel prosecutor's office, Oumar Café Diagne, alias "Oumar Wass", and Serigne Saliou Mbaye, known as "Khelcom", residing in Dianatou Mahwa, were tried this Thursday in flagrante delicto at the Diourbel High Court, in the presence of their lawyer, Maitre Serigne Diongue.

At the end of the court proceedings, Oumar Wass was acquitted by the judge. Serigne Saliou Mbaye, on the other hand, was found guilty and sentenced to one year in prison, one month of which is suspended, as well as a fine of 50,000 CFA francs.

The two defendants were brought before the Touba research brigade for defamation and insulting a religious minister, according to Seneweb sources.

As a reminder, Sokhna Aïda Diallo's controversial visit to Touba took a legal turn. Having received the widow of Serigne Cheikh Béthio Thioune at his home, Serigne Sidy Mbacké faced criticism as well as discourteous and offensive remarks. In response, members of the Khalifa's family, including Serigne Abdou Lahad Mbacké, filed a complaint against TikTok users identified through videos posted on the social media platform.

The versions of those involved

Oumar Wass had blamed Khelcom for the remarks deemed discourteous. He had tried to make investigators believe that he had sold "(his) phone to Serigne Saliou Mbaye, forgetting to disconnect (his) TikTok account. The buyer took advantage of this to log in from (his) account during a live broadcast on this social network."

As for his fellow detainee Serigne Saliou Mbaye, known as "Khelcom", he admitted to having participated in a live stream concerning the visit of Sokhna Aïda Diallo.
