Arrêtée pour escroquerie portant sur 673,8 millions FCFA : La commerçante gambienne Adji Séra Trera relaxée
Gambian businesswoman Adji Séra Trera, prosecuted for fraud amounting to 673.8 million CFA francs against her Senegalese supplier Modou Ndiaye, learned her fate this Thursday before the trial chamber of the Financial Judicial Pool, which handles cases of flagrant offenses. In its ruling, the court acquitted the defendant of the charges against her and dismissed the civil party's claims. However, during the trial on June 4th, the defendant had admitted to the debt, while maintaining that it was a purely commercial dispute. Her defense attorney, El Hadji Diouf, had argued that there was no fraudulent intent.
Dissatisfied with the verdict, the businessman Modou Ndiaye announced his intention to appeal the decision. The plaintiff, through his lawyers Ousseynou Ngom and Abdy Nar Ndiaye, had sought one billion francs in damages.
