Condamnation de Keylor : Ce que réclame désormais la Fédération nationale des boutiquiers
The conviction of influencer Keylor has clearly not closed the case nor allayed the concerns of shopkeepers. The day after the verdict was handed down on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, the National Federation of Shopkeepers for Modernization (FNBM) reiterated its position. In a press release published on Thursday, November 5, the organization provided an update on the legal proceedings and reaffirmed its absolute determination to protect its members against threats, intimidation, and attacks.
At the conclusion of the hearing, the court found Keylor guilty of the charges against him, sentencing him to six months' imprisonment, with fifteen days to be served, and a fine of 200,000 CFA francs payable to the Public Treasury. The Federation, however, sought to dispel any confusion regarding the financial implications of this sanction. The fine imposed does not constitute compensation for the affected merchants or the professional organization, as it is paid exclusively to the Public Treasury. The FNBM also clarified the civil aspect of the case, explaining that its application to join the proceedings as a civil party was rejected by the court, primarily due to the absence of the merchants appearing in the videos that initiated the proceedings. The organization justified this non-appearance as a precautionary measure given the current climate of insecurity, while emphasizing that it had fully defended their interests throughout the trial.
Beyond the verdict, the FNBM (National Federation of Building Trades) acutely raises the issue of the safety of shopkeepers in the daily conduct of their business, advocating for a work environment free from all forms of violence or discrimination. The organization also commended the professionalism and vigilance of the National Gendarmerie officers, who ensured the protection of its delegation all the way to its vehicle following a hearing marked by tensions. Finally, it congratulated its legal counsel for their unwavering commitment.
To protect the industry from such abuses, the FNBM urges its members to be vigilant and report any threats immediately to the appropriate police or gendarmerie services, or directly to the public prosecutor, while retaining all necessary evidence. It also recommends the installation of video surveillance systems that comply with current regulations.
Despite the firmness of its indictment, the Federation categorically rejects any attempt at vigilante justice. It insists that it does not condone any form of retaliation, confrontation, or settling of scores, exclusively favoring legal channels, dialogue, and mediation. Positioning itself as a bulwark for all stakeholders in the retail sector, regardless of nationality or community background, the FNBM calls for collective responsibility, civic-mindedness, and the rejection of hate speech to preserve social cohesion.
