Droit de visite : le procureur recadre un père qui s'était invité chez son ex-femme
C. Dièye, a 50-year-old civil engineer, appeared before the Pikine-Guédiawaye court of summary jurisdiction following an incident that occurred on the night of July 7 in Tivaouane Peulh, reports L'Observateur. Separated from his ex-wife, Nd. Ndiaye, since 2023, the man went to his home around 10 p.m. to see his children before leaving on a business trip, even though it wasn't his scheduled visitation day, the newspaper recounts. When his ex-wife refused to open the door, a heated argument ensued, also involving his former mother-in-law who intervened.
In court, the same source continued, the plaintiff denounced constant harassment, insults via text messages, and death threats, while also noting that her ex-husband had a prior conviction for physical violence. Not seeking any damages, she simply asked the court to impose a strict restraining order.
For his part, the defendant contested the accusations of death threats, trespassing and insults, explaining that he acted in the heat of distress over the repeated obstacles he encounters in exercising his legal visitation rights.
The prosecution firmly reprimanded the accused, reminding him that he could not take the law into his own hands and that he must go through the civil court in case of a dispute. Delivering its verdict, the newspaper of the Future Media Group concluded, the court reclassified the charges as violence, assault, and threats, dismissing the charge of trespassing, and sentenced Cheikh Dièye to a fine of 50,000 FCFA.
