A fraud case linked to a clandestine migration project to Europe had an unexpected outcome on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, when six alleged victims took the initiative to personally drive their alleged fraudster to the Zac Mbao district police station.

On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 8 a.m., EK SADIO, aged 43, was taken into custody for fraud and migrant smuggling.

A notable aspect of this procedure is that the detention order followed the suspect's being brought to the police station by six (6) individuals themselves, namely GS MBODJI, O. SOW, O. MASSALY, O. SY, O. DIALLO, and M. FAYE. It was therefore the alleged victims who, on their own initiative, handed their suspected swindler over to the police.

The promise of a clandestine journey to Europe

According to statements gathered from the six plaintiffs, the accused allegedly offered, in exchange for payment, to facilitate their clandestine journey to Europe by sea, departing from the Port of Dakar. As part of this arrangement, he allegedly organized their gathering in Zac Mbao, with the aim of transporting them to a departure point scheduled for the night of September 8-9, 2026.

The six men stated that they had each given the accused the sum of sixty thousand (60,000) CFA francs, presented as processing fees, in exchange for the realization of their travel plans. They further stated that they had agreed to pay him an additional three hundred thousand (300,000) CFA francs each upon their arrival in Europe.

A night of waiting that is cut short

It was while waiting all night in Zac Mbao that doubts arose: no means of transport arrived to take them to the Port of Dakar as agreed. When questioned about this by the complainants, the accused reportedly told them that he was waiting for the main transporter, whom he was unable to reach by phone, according to Seneweb sources.

The turn of events: the victims regain control

Noting the absence of any boat or means of transport and realizing they had been deceived, the six plaintiffs

Around 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning, they decided not to let the matter rest: rather than disperse, they made the collective decision to personally escort the suspect to the Zac Mbao district police station. It was this collective action that allowed for the immediate opening of the investigation and the detention of EK SADIO.

The confession of the accused

When questioned about the events, EK SADIO admitted to receiving the money paid by the plaintiffs. However, he stated that he handed it over to an individual he described as his contact in this transaction, although this individual has not yet been identified or apprehended.

Continuing his statements, the accused also claimed to have collected money from more than twenty people, whom he allegedly convinced of the existence of a planned voyage to Europe by boat. According to him, these individuals were to be presented as employees on board the said boat, which was supposed to connect several European countries.
