Ferdinand Coly contre Saliou Samb : le PJF saisi d’une plainte, 1,2 milliard FCFA en cause
The ten-year legal dispute between Ferdinand Coly, former Senegalese international, and Saliou Samb, president of the Mbour departmental council, has taken a new turn. The former Lions full-back has filed a complaint with the Financial Judicial Pool (PJF) alleging fraud involving 1.2 billion CFA francs. Les Échos reports that his lawyers filed the complaint last Friday.
The newspaper notes that on July 3, 2025, the Supreme Court "overturned the entire previous procedure." The high court had identified a procedural flaw: "Saliou Samb had not been informed of his right to legal counsel during his interrogation." This irregularity led to the annulment of the sentences handed down at first instance—two years in prison, including six months of actual imprisonment—and then on appeal—one year in prison, including ten months suspended, along with an order to pay 800 million in damages.
The dispute, according to Les Échos, stems from "a seafood processing and export company called 'Blue Trade Company,'" created by the two men. Ferdinand Coly accuses his former partner of defrauding him in connection with this business. Another former Senegalese international, Mamadou Niang, had also invested over 325 million CFA francs in the company, which ultimately went bankrupt, according to the evidence presented in the case file.
The dispute also continued regarding the enforcement of court decisions. Saliou Samb had filed several appeals to oppose the seizure of his assets, but he had not been successful.
