« L'enfant a dit que l'argent vient de l'armoire de son père » : Les propos de Cheikh Ba qui éclairent le dossier Mor Mbaye Cissé
As journalist Mor Mbaye Cissé is set to stand trial this Monday for spreading false news, statements made this Sunday by Cheikh Ba, president of the Union of Magistrates of Senegal (UMS), shed crucial light on the chronology of the case. A guest on the program "Jury Du Dimanche," the magistrate recounted the preliminary investigation, confirming that the version initially disseminated by the media originated directly from statements made by the magistrate's son.
Referring to the questioning of the teenagers after the discovery of the 25 million CFA francs, Cheikh Ba explained: "The boy panicked and said that he took the money from his father's wardrobe."
This detail shows that the information was not a pure journalistic invention, but that it was based on the first version given by the young defendant himself to the investigators, before the latter later recanted his statements.
