Mbour : Mariage nié, l'enfer d'un live de Kalifone, poursuites de 22 millions et fuite d'un gendarme aux USA
A unique confrontation over a disputed marital status has pitted Dié Sène against Khadim Bamba Diagne. The latter accuses the woman claiming to be his wife of embezzling 22 million CFA francs from him. In the dock of the Mbour High Court, during the summary proceedings, the defendant presented herself as the plaintiff's legitimate wife, claims vehemently contested by the plaintiff, who, detained abroad, was represented by his current wife and legal counsel.
The events date back to 2023. According to the defendant's account, the two parties met through the plaintiff's brother in connection with a land acquisition project. Their regular exchanges allegedly led to a romantic relationship culminating in marriage. "He married me and gave me a dowry of 1.5 million CFA francs," she declared before the judges. The woman claims that Bamba Diagne sent family members from Saint-Louis to celebrate their union. To support her claims, Dié Sène submitted photographs of the ceremony as well as a marriage certificate issued by the Santhie mosque. When questioned by the presiding judge about the exact identities of the people in the photographs, the defendant admitted she did not know if these individuals were actually related to her alleged husband.
Through his lawyer and his wife, Khadim Bamba Diagne claims to have given Dié Sène 8 million CFA francs for the purchase of two plots of land. The defendant categorically denies acquiring two properties, admitting only to having been tasked with acquiring a single plot, a task she asserts she duly completed. She adds that her alleged husband had signed up for a ten-month tontine (a type of savings and loan association), with monthly contributions of 500,000 CFA francs. After receiving his initial investment, he allegedly asked her to transfer 2.5 million CFA francs to him and to keep the remainder for household expenses.
The defendant also claims that after two months of marriage, her husband sent her money to join him in France. This was followed by a particularly harrowing migration journey. Having to reach Europe via Angola, she says she lived in extreme poverty, sometimes having to fast due to a lack of resources. She then traveled to Morocco hoping to cross to Spain. Lacking sufficient funds, she decided to return to Senegal before selling her own vehicle to go back to Morocco and attempt the crossing again.
After three months in Morocco, Dié Sène says she was shocked to discover a live session broadcast by TikToker Khalifone, during which Bamba Diagne publicly slandered her, accusing her of swindling him out of 22 million CFA francs, while denying ever having married her. This media exposure reportedly plunged her into deep psychological distress. Upon returning to Senegal, the seamstress claims to have developed severe mental health problems requiring constant supervision from her family.
Before the court, Khadim Bamba Diagne reiterated his denials through his current wife, Mrs. Bob. "Bamba says he never married the woman. She herself called Bamba to tell him their marriage had been arranged. But no one from Saint-Louis came to ask for her hand," she insisted. Speaking next, the lawyer for the plaintiff dismissed the marriage argument, calling the union a complete fabrication. "A marriage where Bamba isn't present isn't a marriage," he argued, accusing the defendant of squandering his client's money and demanding 25 million CFA francs in damages.
The public prosecutor deferred to the application of the law, while defense counsel Fadel Fall requested the outright acquittal of his client, contesting the existence of any element constituting a breach of trust. The court adjourned the case for deliberation until November 10, 2026.
This criminal procedure also masks a collateral scandal related to the conditions of the preliminary investigation. According to a request for an official report drawn up on December 17, 2025, by Cheikh Tidiane Tambadou, a bailiff in Mbour, Dié Sène accuses the investigating gendarme, assigned to the Saly Research Brigade, of particularly serious misconduct. Interviewed in connection with the complaint, the defendant claims that the officer quickly overstepped the bounds of his judicial duties by making persistent advances towards her and sending her pornographic videos.
The plaintiff further alleges that the gendarme attempted to extort money and plots of land from her, even providing her with a copy of her identity document so that land titles could be registered in her name. Attorney Cheikh Tidiane Tambadou recorded all of these elements in his official report after examining the woman's cell phone. Although these facts were not publicly discussed in court, the accused investigator reportedly chose to evade his administrative responsibilities by leaving the country and seeking refuge in the United States.
