Me Baboucar Cissé : « Le sort de Sophie Gladima est lié à celui des auteurs principaux »
At the end of Tuesday's hearing before the High Court of Justice, Baboucar Cissé, lawyer for former Minister of Mines and Geology, Aïssatou Sophie Gladima, expressed his satisfaction after the court's decision to postpone the case until after the judicial holidays and to order the removal of his client's electronic bracelet.
According to lawyer Baboucar Cissé, this decision was in accordance with the law. “We are very satisfied with this decision of the High Court. The law is clear: placement under electronic monitoring cannot exceed one year. However, Sophie Gladima had been wearing it since July 7, 2025. Today is July 22, 2026; the lifting of the electronic bracelet was legally required, and the Court agreed with us,” he stated.
The lawyer also explained the reasons for the case being postponed until after the judicial recess. According to him, proceedings are still pending before the indictment division concerning the main perpetrators. "My client is being prosecuted for complicity, which constitutes a case of 'cronyism': her fate is therefore linked to that of the main perpetrators. However, the latter have been granted a dismissal. Even if this decision is not yet final, its outcome will necessarily have an impact on the proceedings concerning Sophie Gladima. For the proper administration of justice, the case had to be postponed until after the recess," explained Mr. Cissé.
