D. Seck, a merchant residing in Cambérène, appeared this Tuesday before the Dakar court of summary jurisdiction for collecting personal data and distributing pornographic images to the detriment of his ex-girlfriend, AS

According to the Dakar Urban Security investigation report of May 21, 2026, D. Seck, also known as Djibril, was arrested following a complaint filed by Ms. AS for the illegal collection of pornographic material, blackmail, and threats to release intimate videos. The events date back to March 10, 2026. In her complaint, the complainant explains that she had been in a long-distance relationship with D. Seck before ending it. According to her, her former partner then sent her an intimate video he had recorded without her knowledge during their WhatsApp video calls, before threatening to post the images online.

Residing in the United States, the plaintiff was represented by her niece, who held a power of attorney. The niece confirmed to investigators that her aunt regularly communicated with D. Seck via WhatsApp and Facebook, including during intimate video calls. She alleges that the accused took advantage of these exchanges to record footage showing her aunt's private parts.

After the breakup, D. Seck demanded repayment of a debt of 300,000 FCFA while sending his ex-partner a copy of the compromising video. Fearing the images would be leaked, AS ultimately sent the money via Wave. To support her claims, she provided investigators with a USB drive containing the video, screenshots of their exchanges, and proof of the money transfer.

During questioning, D. Seck initially denied recording his ex-partner. He acknowledged that she regularly sent him sexually explicit content and undressed during their video calls. He maintained that he never intended to keep the images.

However, when confronted with the Facebook exchanges presented in the case file, he eventually admitted to sending the video to AS. He also admitted to making the recording, while maintaining that he never intended to publish the images. According to him, it was simply a means of exerting pressure to recover the 300,000 FCFA, as the complainant had blocked him on social media after their breakup.

Placed under a detention order on June 19, D. Seck admitted in court to the charges against him. He stated that he sent the video to the complainant in order to force her to reimburse him, adding that he had no intention of publishing the images online.

In its submissions, the prosecution requested a sentence of 2 years imprisonment, including one month of mandatory imprisonment, as well as a fine of 100,000 FCFA.

In his defense, Mr. Abdalah Diallo argued primarily for the dismissal of the charges. As a secondary argument, he requested leniency and a suspended sentence. Mr. Ibamar Diop referred to this argument.

In delivering its verdict, the court found the defendant guilty of the charges against him. He was sentenced to two years' imprisonment, suspended, and fined 100,000 FCFA. The judge reserved judgment on the civil claims of the plaintiff.
