Tribunal de Dakar : Procès renvoyé et liberté provisoire rejetée pour Abdou Aziz Diop
Abdou Aziz Diop, former special advisor to President Macky Sall, summoned before the Dakar court for flagrant offenses on charges of indecent speech and insults directed at a group of people via a computer system, will have to wait a little longer. His trial has been automatically postponed until June 30, 2026.
His defense team, led by lawyers Aboubacry Barro, Aly Fall, and Ibamar Diop, used the hearing to request provisional release. The judge sought the opinion of the public prosecutor, who strongly opposed it, citing a risk of public disorder and the lack of sufficient guarantees of appearance in court.
Ultimately, the court sided with the prosecutor, rejecting the request for provisional release due to a lack of guarantees of appearance, and upheld the adjournment date of June 30. As a reminder, Abdou Aziz Diop is being prosecuted for making remarks deemed insulting against the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, and his supporters.
