Pluies et orages : l’ANACIM annonce une semaine très arrosée du 12 au 18 juillet
The National Agency for Civil Aviation and Meteorology (ANACIM) announces an intensification of rainy activities over a large part of the national territory during the period from July 12 to 18, 2026. In a special weather bulletin published this Friday, forecasters report two major episodes of rain likely to bring locally heavy precipitation, particularly in the Center, South and East of the country.
According to ANACIM, the first episode of rain and thunderstorms is expected from July 12 to 13. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms will affect the southern regions (Ziguinchor, Kolda and Sédhiou), the eastern regions (Kédougou, Tambacounda and Matam) as well as the central regions (Dakar, Thiès, Diourbel, Kaolack, Fatick and Kaffrine).
Forecasts also indicate that some northern localities, including Linguère, Louga and Podor, could experience rainfall that could even extend to the Saint-Louis region.
Meteorologists are, however, drawing particular attention to the southern regions and the Kaffrine–Kaolack–Nioro triangle, where the heaviest rainfall is expected. Episodes of heavy precipitation are possible in these areas.
ANACIM forecasts a second period of rain and thunderstorms between July 16 and 18, with light to moderate rainfall that could become locally heavy. This new weather pattern is expected to affect almost the entire country, particularly the central, eastern, and southern regions.
Between these two periods, from July 14 to 15, isolated showers accompanied by thunderstorms could also develop in places, mainly in the South and South-Central regions.
In light of this weather situation, the agency recommends that the population adopt precautionary measures.
Candidates for the BFEM are advised to plan their travel to examination centers in advance and to regularly follow weather reports, especially on July 13 and 14.
Farmers are encouraged to continue sowing operations, as conditions are favorable for the establishment of wintering.
Road users are urged to exercise extra caution due to the risks of poor visibility and slippery roads during rain and thunderstorm episodes.
ANACIM also urges residents of flood-prone areas to remain particularly vigilant in the face of the predicted heavy rains, while fishermen are advised to consult weather reports before any trip to sea.
The agency further states that it will continue to monitor the evolution of the meteorological situation and will publish further updates if conditions require it.
