Prévisions Météo : Orages dans le Sud et l'Est, vagues de chaleur intense dans le Nord
The weather conditions are expected to be particularly contrasting across the entire country over the next 24 hours. According to forecasts from the National Agency for Civil Aviation and Meteorology (Anacim), valid from midday Thursday, September 17th until noon on Friday, September 18th, the country will be divided in two, oscillating between heavy rain and thunderstorms and extreme heat waves.
The unsettled weather will primarily affect the eastern and southern regions. Starting this afternoon and continuing throughout the night, thunderstorms accompanied by sometimes heavy rain will hit the towns of Tambacounda and Kédougou hard, before spreading to the southern areas of Kolda, Sédhiou, and Ziguinchor. These rain events also risk moving towards the south-central regions, threatening to reach the Kaffrine and Kaolack regions by Friday morning.
In the rest of the country, calm will prevail with generally stable weather, although the sky will be veiled by cloud passages of varying density.
However, it is the temperature that will attract attention in these areas spared by the severe weather. A period of intense heat will indeed settle in for a prolonged period over the North, North-Central and East, where the mercury will soar to maximum temperatures between 36°C and 43°C in the shade.
