Décès du président du CODEPS : Le PASTEF rend hommage à un militant engagé et suspend ses célébrations
The Pastef-Les Patriotes party is in mourning. In an official statement released this Wednesday, the political party announced with immense sadness the passing of their comrade-in-arms, Djiby Mbaye, who died in Golf Sud after a long illness.
A former political prisoner and president of the Collective of Former Political Prisoners (CODEPS), Djiby Mbaye was a highly respected figure within the Senegalese patriotic movement. The PASTEF National Political Bureau solemnly paid tribute to the memory of this activist.
"A committed activist, a dignified political prisoner, imbued with human and patriotic values, who knew how to sacrifice his freedom for the defense of the Senegalese people and their supreme interests."
Faced with this painful circumstance, the party has taken the decision to suspend all planned festivities, and to postpone any celebration, including that of the birthday of the party's leader and president, Ousmane Sonko.
He instead invites his supporters to join them in prayer for the repose of the soul of the deceased.
PASTEF expressed its full solidarity with the family of Djiby Mbaye, offering them its deepest condolences.
