Mort de la danseuse Asta Mbaye en Finlande : Sa famille écarte la thèse du suicide et interpelle l'État
Emotion and incomprehension have gripped the Dagoudane neighborhood in Yoff. The family of Asta Mbaye, a Senegalese professional dancer living in Finland, announced her tragic death on Thursday, which occurred on July 15, 2026, in Helsinki. The particularly unclear circumstances surrounding her death have prompted her loved ones to urgently request the intervention of Senegalese diplomats.
According to initial reports from her relatives, the 32-year-old woman, born on June 9, 1994 in Yoff, succumbed to her injuries after falling from the 5th floor of a building in the Finnish capital.
Local police immediately launched an investigation to determine the sequence of events. Indicating the complexity of the case, two people were arrested and taken into custody by Finnish authorities.
"The family of Mrs. Asta Mbaye indicates that they rule out the suicide theory and express serious questions about the conditions in which her death occurred," the note reads.
Without wishing to preempt the work of investigators, the family categorically rejects the hypothesis of a desperate act and demands that all criminal or accidental leads be rigorously explored.
Faced with the geographical distance and the complexity of international legal procedures, the victim's family is seeking support from the Senegalese state. They are directly appealing to the Ministry of African Integration, Foreign Affairs, and Senegalese Abroad to obtain rigorous diplomatic follow-up.
Asta Mbaye 's family also asks the State to ensure that the investigations are conducted in full transparency and with strict impartiality, in order to guarantee the full establishment of the truth and the identification of all those responsible.
Asta Mbaye, who also held Finnish citizenship, had built a solid reputation on the European cultural scene. Having left Senegal to pursue her passion, she worked as a professional dancer and instructor. She performed regularly in several European countries and was actively preparing a new dance show scheduled to take place in Denmark.
His family and friends are now calling for respect for his memory, his dignity and his artistic career, while reaffirming their absolute determination to obtain justice.
