« 1,7 milliard et une rallonge ! » : Abdourahmane Diouf lâche une bombe sur la gestion d'Ousmane Sonko !
Invited to the set of the program "En Vérité" on RTS, Minister Abdourahmane Diouf spoke at length about the controversial issue of the management of political funds and the credits allocated to the Prime Minister's office under Ousmane Sonko. This statement comes in a political context marked by the recent defection of the political leader, who officially dissolved his party Awalé to merge with KIIRAAY, the new political party launched by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
Returning to the topic of the funds allocated to Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, Abdourahmane Diouf recalled the figures presented upon his appointment to the Prime Minister's office. "He stated that he had 1.77 billion CFA francs at his disposal per quarter," the speaker emphasized. Continuing his analysis of how this sum was spent, he added: "What I know is that after using these 1.77 billion CFA francs, he even went so far as to request additional funds... This means that it wasn't enough."
Faced with these budgetary decisions, the head of the former Awalé party expressed his support for a public and exemplary accountability process. "What I wanted was for a parliamentary commission of inquiry to be established, for all television and radio stations to come and film, so that he could tell us where he invested this money," he stated.
“Complete transparency under the presidency of Diomaye Faye”
When asked about the difference in governance and posture between Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and Head of State Bassirou Diomaye Faye, Abdourahmane Diouf was keen to welcome the break brought about by the President of the Republic.
“All Senegalese people know that the President of the Republic has political funds at his disposal. All Senegalese people know the amount of these political funds; it’s no secret,” the minister stated from the outset. According to him, the real progress lies in ending the dogma of opacity that had previously surrounded the use of these funds.
“President Diomaye deserves credit for publicly declaring before all Senegalese: ‘The political funds are available, and I will use them in such and such a way,’” he noted, affirming the full legitimacy of this approach. Abdourahmane Diouf concluded by stating that this stance marks a major institutional turning point: “We are therefore operating with complete transparency in the execution of a budget approved by the National Assembly. No one can claim that they used this money where it shouldn’t have been used.”
