31st edition of the Alexandre Ngom Cup: Football celebration in Thiomby and official announcement of the mayor's candidacy for 2027

The Thiomby municipal stadium throbbed with excitement for the grand final of the 31st edition of the football cup, sponsored by the mayor of the town, Mr. Alexandre Ngom. The event drew a record crowd of spectators, mainly young people who came to celebrate this major sporting event, presided over by the deputy sub-prefect of the Ngothie district, Mr. Boydo Ba.

Beyond the sporting aspect, this grand celebration of youth mobilized numerous personalities, friends, and political partners who came to demonstrate their support for the event's patron. The ceremony brought together religious and traditional authorities, such as the Imam Ratib of Thiomby, Mr. Moussa Ndour, and the representative of the village chief. The political and institutional sphere was also strongly represented, with the presence of the mayors of Dya (Tamsir Gueye) and Ndiébel (Dame Beye Ba), as well as numerous delegations representing Minister Mamadou Mouhamed Ndiaye Rahma, the mayor of Kahone (Fatou Sène Diouf), the mayor of Latmingué (Dr. Macoumba Diouf), and the Director General of ANEC, Mr. Matar Ndao. Local elected officials, sports officials from the area, as well as activists from the Doolel Taxawu Askan Wi Movement (MDTA) and the Kiiraay party, The Republican Patriots, were also present.

On the field, the match ended in victory for the Bokk Jom team from Keur Taïbé, who triumphed 2-0 against Gouye Gui from Khalambasse after a hard-fought encounter. Following the game, numerous trophies and cash prizes were awarded to the teams. The budget for this 31st edition saw a significant increase, as Mayor Alexandre Ngom spared no expense to ensure a memorable celebration for the youth of his community.

The event was also marked by impassioned speeches, notably that of the mayor of Ndiébel, Dame Beye Ba, who made a passionate appeal to the people of Thiomby to remain mobilized behind Alexandre Ngom in support of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and the Kiiraay party, Les Patriotes Républicains (The Republican Patriots). During the press conference concluding the day, Mayor Alexandre Ngom took the opportunity to officially announce his candidacy for another term in the 2027 municipal elections, thus affirming his commitment to continuing the development projects underway in the municipality.
