700 jeunes auraient quitté Pastef : la riposte cinglante d'Amadou Ba
As reported by Walf Quotidien, the Young Patriots for the Republic (JPR) claim to have registered the support of over 700 young people from Pastef – particularly from the Patriotic Youth of Senegal (JPS) across all 46 departments – in just 96 hours. The movement explains that this mobilization is part of "Operation Phoenix," an initiative aimed at uniting and reorganizing young people around the national transformation project championed by the President of the Republic.
The daily newspaper of the Front de Terre press group also reports that the response from Pastef officials was swift. MP Amadou Ba denounces a "well-thought-out strategy" aimed at "creating the impression of a continuous stream of resignations and artificially inflating their scale." According to him, these piecemeal announcements seek to "sabotage the enormous success of membership card sales." Asserting that Pastef is registering "thousands of new members" compared to "fewer than 100 resignations," the parliamentarian calls on activists to focus on grassroots activism rather than providing "free media coverage" to dissidents.
In the same newspaper, the coordinator of Moncap, Babo Amadou Ba, also downplays these defections, comparing the party to "a moving train." "The train doesn't count those who leave the platform; it moves forward with those who choose the destination," he asserts. He concludes by emphasizing that the overall result remains clear, with "more members than resignations," while reaffirming the course toward "Sonko 2029."
