Abdou Fall : « L’opposition n’a jamais eu une telle opportunité »
The Senegalese political landscape is undergoing a profound transformation, marked by increasing polarization around two forces stemming from the same political matrix. In an interview with L'Observateur, former Minister of State Abdou Fall urged the traditional opposition to reinvent itself to avoid being marginalized in this new balance of power.
While the public debate is largely dominated by the duel between the presidential camp led by Bassirou Diomaye Faye and the parliamentary majority embodied by Ousmane Sonko and at odds with the Executive branch, the former Minister of Health under Abdoulaye Wade warns against the gradual erosion of traditional political forces. He believes, however, that this context could present a real opportunity. "Contrary to appearances, I think the opposition has never, since 2024, been in such a favorable position to prepare its return to power," he states in the pages of the Futurs Médias Group's daily newspaper.
To capitalize on this situation, Abdou Fall advocates for the emergence of a "third, alternative political force," distinct from the two currently engaged in confrontation. According to the newspaper's source, this reinvention requires a thorough overhaul of the opposition's platform, rhetoric, organizational methods, and leadership.
