Accusations de non-assistance : Pastef/Thiès réplique au père du caporal Ousseynou Fall
“Pastef is neither a sect nor a dangerous organization. To call it a ‘political sect’ is an insult to all those who, like your son Ousseynou, freely chose this path out of conviction. Pastef is a political party that embodies the values of truth, justice, transparency, and patriotism. Unlike other groups, it does not manipulate its members: it emancipates them, empowers them, and encourages them to speak the truth, even when it is unpopular.”
This clarification comes from a former political prisoner, Sadikh Traoré, known as Tra, head of communications for Pastef/Thiès-Nord. Responding to Mr. Abdoulaye Mao Fall's accusations of "failure to assist" his son, Corporal Ousseynou Fall, now in the hands of the justice system, he says he respects his "paternal grief" and his "approach to ask forgiveness from the Senegalese people."
However, the activist was keen to clarify: “As a Pastef activist and direct witness to the events you mention, I feel compelled to set the record straight, frankly and without mincing words, but with the respect I owe you.” Sadikh Traoré began by recalling that former Corporal Ousseynou Fall remained “dignified by choosing the path of truth. He was neither kidnapped nor indoctrinated: he embraced a project to break with an unjust system.”
He continued: "The values that differentiate Pastef from other parties are precisely courage, loyalty, and a refusal to compromise. It is not a sect, it is a school of citizenship."
According to him, the reality on the ground refutes Mr. Fall's attacks. "The facts contradict your accusations of failure to assist. You claim that no Pastef official came to see your son, and yet you are appealing for help. Let me remind you of the facts, because I was present. On Wednesday, the day your son was summoned to the Colobane Research Section, I was the only Pastef member to go and support him. You, his father, did not come. You only called to inquire about him," he asserts.
He added: “On Thursday, during his detention, I, Sadikh Traoré, was still present, accompanied by Adama Fall, Diawara, and several of your son's colleagues from 'Allô Sénégal.' The lawyer you put in touch with us never showed up and didn't answer our calls. It wasn't Pastef that failed; it was you who failed in your role as a father in practical terms. Your son's current lawyer, Maître Famara Faty, was hired by former MP Amadu Dia even before Chérif Al Ousseynou Lahi's appeal. So, it's not thanks to you. Just yesterday, Adama Fall from Pastef/Thiès-Ouest went back to see your son in the basement of the Dakar courthouse before his transfer to Rebeuss prison.”
He specifies that several activists continue to mobilize to guarantee dignified detention conditions for Ousseynou Fall: “All the people involved with him are members of Pastef. So, Mr. Fall, how can you talk about failure to assist and paint Pastef/Les Patriotes in a negative light when it was their activists who were present at every stage? You are a former pseudo-activist of Pastef, now with Kiiraay – Les Patriotes Républicains. You are trying to slander Pastef through your son's situation. It's unfair and shameful.”
In conclusion, Sadikh Traoré urged the accused's father to cease his public attacks: "Your son is a free and honorable man. If he has done wrong, he will answer for it before the law, but Pastef is not a sect and has never abandoned its members. We remain in solidarity with Ousseynou Fall and we will continue to work for his return to his family."
