APR : l’après-Macky Sall, la grosse annonce
Macky Sall is fully committed to the race for the position of UN Secretary-General. With the recent announcement of his country's support, the former head of state is entering the final stretch of the campaign to succeed Antonio Guterres with renewed vigor.
If elected, he will have to step down as president of the APR and dedicate himself to his new responsibilities, which require him to remain above the fray, equidistant from all factions. His party is aware of this and is preparing accordingly. "Discussions are underway regarding the post-Macky Sall era because we want him to effectively become Secretary-General of the United Nations," revealed Oumar Youm in an interview published this Thursday in L'Observateur.
The APR official points out that if he were to take the helm of the UN organization, its leader "could no longer be president of [their] party, he could not have a national roadmap or especially a political roadmap. So, it is clear that the APR is preparing accordingly."
In this context, the former minister under Macky Sall warns: "As I always say, let's put the right people in the right places. We mustn't, after failing the transfer of power at the highest level of the state, fail again with the transfer of political power. That would be very disastrous for the party, its members, and its leaders."
