Assemblée nationale : Aissata Tall Sall accuse Ousmane Sonko de bloquer les ordres de mission des députés de Takku Wallu
Tensions between the parliamentary majority and opposition have taken a new turn. Aïssata Tall Sall, president of the Takku Wallu Sénégal parliamentary group, accuses the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, of refusing to sign the travel orders of members of her group, thus preventing them from traveling. She denounces this situation as yet another example of the tensions within the parliamentary institution.
“Some MPs were supposed to go on missions, but Mr. President Ousmane Sonko refused to sign the mission orders so that no one would leave. For what reasons?” asked the former Minister of Justice, during her group’s press conference on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at the APR headquarters.
Beyond this specific incident, Aïssata Tall Sall sees it as an attitude she attributes to the ruling majority, which she accuses of replicating, in the exercise of power, the very practices she denounced when she was in the opposition. She particularly warns against any exploitation of the state budget in political disputes.
“No faction, no individual, no dispute justifies blocking the nation’s budget. Because this budget belongs to the Senegalese people, it serves the Senegalese people,” she insisted. For her, citizens have the right to a serious parliamentary debate, to transparency regarding public finances, and, above all, to a functioning state.
Reaffirming her group's role in the opposition, the MP promised to maintain pressure on the majority, while prioritizing an approach she described as "reasoned, reasonable, well-articulated, responsible, and mature." "We will remain firm on our principles, and no one will make us deviate from them," she concluded.
