Assemblée nationale : Le groupe parlementaire Takku Wallu se retire des commissions d’enquête
The work of parliamentary inquiry committees at the National Assembly is generating considerable debate. This Friday, the Takku Wallu Sénégal parliamentary group announced its definitive withdrawal from all six (6) parliamentary inquiry committees.
"This carefully considered decision follows the distressing and outrageous spectacle that the Senegalese people have witnessed since the start of the hearings. What should have been a serious and rigorous institutional procedure has been deliberately transformed into a veritable media circus, guided by the manipulation of the masses," the parliamentary group stated.
In a press release seen by Seneweb, "Takku Wallu Sénégal" denounces in particular the "theatricalization of the hearings", to the detriment of clarifying the facts, as well as the transformation of the National Assembly into "a television studio broadcasting scenes in bad taste, which weaken the authority, dignity and solemnity of the parliamentary function".
The parliamentary group thus affirms its refusal to lend credence to a "public trial of intent" and reiterates its "refusal to participate in diversionary maneuvers to the detriment of the general interest and the respectability of institutions."
