Assemblée nationale : Quatre nouveaux députés font leur entrée
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, officially installed four new members of parliament on Monday, June 22, during the plenary session examining draft law no. 15/2026 concerning the Labor Code and draft law no. 16/2026 concerning the Social Security Code. The new members are Salimata Dieng, Abass Ndiaye, Amadou Ba, and Momar Talla Ndao.
The two newly appointed members have been reinstated to their seats in the National Assembly. Both had left the Assembly after their appointments to the previous government led by Ousmane Sonko. Amadou Ba was Minister of Culture, and Momar Talla Ndao served as Secretary of State for Urban Planning and Housing. Their reinstatement was approved by the Bureau of the National Assembly, in accordance with Article 54 of the Constitution and Article 124 of the Rules of Procedure.
In addition, Salimata Dieng, the former special advisor to the Presidency of the Republic who was dismissed following a Facebook post, has joined the National Assembly to replace Marie-Angélique Diouf, who was recently appointed to the government.
Like her, Abass Ndiaye was installed under the provisions of Article L.154 of the Electoral Code, concerning the procedures for replacing members of parliament in the event of a vacancy. He replaced Serigne Abdoul Ahad Ndiaye, who became Minister of Land and Air Transport. "I invite Salimata Dieng and Abass Ndiaye, unsuccessful candidates on the same lists, to come and take their seats in the National Assembly," ordered Ousmane Sonko.
