Senegal is poised to take a major step forward in promoting equal opportunities and inclusive development. The draft framework law on women's economic empowerment will be presented this Thursday to the Council of Ministers. The announcement was made during the scientific forum of the Program to Support the Economic and Social Development of Senegal (PADESS) by Adama Baye Racine Ndiaye, Secretary General of the Ministry of Family, Social Action and Solidarity (MIFASS).

This initiative follows directly from the directives of the President of the Republic, who instructed the government to develop a specific legal framework. "The Head of State asked the government to draft a framework law on the economic empowerment of women. This work has been carried out by our services, and the Minister is presenting this text today to the Council of Ministers," Mr. Ndiaye explained.

A holistic framework and recognition of care work

The bill aims to address women's empowerment in all its complexity. It includes measures such as combating gender-based violence, strengthening skills and employability, socio-economic integration, promoting female leadership, and increasing access to decision-making bodies.

One of the major innovations of this text lies in the legal recognition of "care work . " The text aims to enshrine these domestic and family tasks as a substantial contribution to household expenses. This provision seeks to value an activity that has historically been unpaid but is central to the economy of families and the nation.

Through this legislative instrument, the Executive aims to make the empowerment of women and young people a strategic lever for social and economic transformation, by guaranteeing equitable access to opportunities and decision-making spheres.

Depuis plus de 20 ans on nous rabat les oreilles avec autonomisation de la femme. Celles qui ont voulu s'affranchir n'ont pas attendu les conneries des lobbies. Basta.
