Bignona : Yankhoba Diémé annonce la réhabilitation du poste de santé de Sindian et détaille la réalisation de l’hôpital militaire
The Minister of the Armed Forces, Yankhoba Diémé, electrified the Casamance region with historic announcements. From Oussouye to Ziguinchor, from Bignona to Sindian, he delivered the President of the Republic's message to religious leaders and village chiefs, while also listening to the grievances of the local population. In Bignona, he unveiled two major projects that will permanently transform the department: the rehabilitation of the Sindian health post and the construction of Senegal's first-ever Level 2 military hospital.
In Sindian, Yankhoba Diémé clarified a misunderstanding, specifying that it is indeed the local health post that has received a decree from the Minister of Health for its rehabilitation. He praised the civic initiative of the young artist Kabi, who is organizing a national concert on October 3rd to raise funds to expedite the work. "It's an act of patriotism, a selfless act for the nation," he emphasized, calling on all political persuasions to unite in support of this vital project for the people.
The minister also listened to the grievances of village chiefs, imams, and religious scholars from the four communes in the Sindian district. These demands, compiled in memoranda, will be forwarded to the head of state. Diémé did, however, point out that solutions already existed in several areas, while emphasizing the need for clear institutional communication to strengthen trust.
A highlight of the tour was the heartfelt tribute paid to the defense and security forces. "If everyone in Casamance sleeps at night, it is because there are others keeping watch outside," he declared, conveying the President of the Republic's message of gratitude to the military and gendarmes.
But it was in Bignona that Diémé made the most significant announcement: the construction of a level 2 military hospital, a pilot project in a program of twenty hospitals in partnership with China. "The president dedicated it to Bignona," he stated, explaining that this infrastructure will address the "medical deserts" and territorial inequity. Unlike conventional hospitals, this facility will have a dual purpose: to meet defense needs and to provide quality care to the civilian population.
The minister noted that Senegal has 46 departments and 14 regions, but that equitable access to healthcare remains a challenge. The military hospital in Bignona, planned for rapid completion thanks to Chinese expertise, will be a concrete response to this imbalance. "The residents of Bignona will be fortunate to sometimes choose not to go to regular hospitals but to the military clinic, given its renowned rigor and professionalism," he added.
By combining presidential message, listening to local grievances and structuring announcements, Yankhoba Diémé has placed Casamance at the heart of the national project, between health, security and territorial justice.
