Changement au Port de Dakar : Alioune Tine exprime un désaccord
A significant change has taken place at the head of the Autonomous Port of Dakar (PAD). Waly Diouf Bodiang has been dismissed from his position as Director General and replaced by Doune Pathé Mbengue.
Reacting to this news on social media, human rights activist Alioune Tine strongly advocated for a thorough reform of the appointment process for strategic government positions. According to him, the Autonomous Port of Dakar, as a vital engine of the national economy and a key player in fierce regional competition, should no longer be subject to political decisions.
The founder of Afrikajom Center warns that as long as the Director General is appointed on partisan grounds, he will systematically find himself on an "ejector seat" with each change of government or election of a new President of the Republic.
To guarantee a serene development plan and stable and sustainable governance, Alioune Tine solemnly invites the authorities to establish a system of calls for applications for this type of crucial position.
